Sen. Lincoln: Have Courage for Arkansas

That Senator Lincoln might vote for the government’s takeover of our personal healthcare decisions when such a clear majority of Arkansans have passionately expressed their opposition has the rumors flying in Washington. Having been (like many of us) the object of untrue, hurtful, and even hateful rumors, I have a distinct aversion to them.

But Senator Lincoln’s condescending and willful ignorance of the clear wishes of her employers gives some credence to the question, “What has she been promised?” An ambassadorship? That’s the talk on the streets in D.C.

I am praying and even hoping against hope that we will never find out what she’s been promised. I hope she’ll vote courageously for Arkansas. In fact, if I were given only the choice between (a) defeating this horrific healthcare “reform” bill now being debated on the Senate floor and (b) winning the race to represent Arkansas in the U.S. Senate, I would choose (a), defeating this unprecedented and unconstitutional invasion of the federal bureaucracy into our most personal and intimate decisions.

Please call Senator Lincoln’s office. Ask her to have the integrity to do her job, which is to faithfully represent the wishes and views of the people who entrusted her with the office. Ask her to have the courage to choose what’s best rather than what’s easy.

She may hold the vote that defeats this atrocious bill. When it comes up, her vote against cloture may be all that’s needed to stop this government takeover - then we can start over to craft a uniquely American solution for our health care problems. What an extraordinary opportunity to be a person of extraordinary courage!

  1. Her votes recently really have me puzzled. I mean, surely she knows the kind of political trouble she's in for her re-election bid. But she doesn't seem to care. This so-called "moderate" routine she's been playing is nothing but a fraud and a facade. She, like every other liberal in Washington, have been hoping for a President like Obama for years and she cares more what he thinks than the voters in Arkansas.
